Twitter reacts as Punjab Kings complete a double over Chennai Super Kings
Punjab Kings crossed swords with Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today. CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and invited Mayank Agarwal and Co to bat first. The Punjab-based franchise largely benefitted from the services of Shikhar Dhawan as he took the attack to the cleaners with ease.
The PBKS opener scored an unbeaten 88 off 59 balls. The southpaw hammered a flurry of nine boundaries and two maximums at a strike rate of 149.15. Bhanuka Rajapaksha looked good for his 42 off 32 balls where he hit 2 fours and 2 sixes.
With the assistance of these two batters, Punjab Kings managed to put up a good total of 187/4 in 20 overs. On the other hand, DJ Bravo was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted for 2 dismissals.
In reply, Chennai Super Kings got off to a miserable start as they lost the top-order batters for cheap scores. However, Ambati Rayudu rose to the occasion and performed really well when it mattered the most. He scored the first half-century this season as he scored 78 off 39 balls before falling prey to Kagiso Rabada.
Rayudu was the pick of the batters in the run-chase for CSK but failed to steer the team to victory. The former Indian cricketer struck 7 fours and 6 sixes at a strike-rate of 200. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada and Rishi Dhawan took 2 wickets apiece for Punjab Kings as they won the game by 11 runs.
Mayank Agarwal and Co not only won the game against CSK but also did the double over the four-time IPL champions. PBKS beat CSK by 54 runs in the reverse fixture.
