“They have a lot of mettle in them” – Harbhajan Singh wants to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in T20 World Cup 2024
Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has expressed his desire to see both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Team India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.
Harbhajan believes that both Rohit and Virat have cricket left in them. He also highlighted the need to involve senior players with youth in order to have a good team combination.
“I think both Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) should be there in the World Cup…I think a good combination would be possible only when you have good senior players too with the youth. Virat and Rohit have a lot of mettle in them. I think they should play,” said Harbhajan Singh.
Following a heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final, both senior players opted out of the white-ball cricket for the South Africa tour. They will get back in action in the two-match Test series.

India’s 2023 World Cup final loss
Harbhajan Singh also shed light on Team India’s World Cup 2023 final loss at the hands of Australia. He feels that the Rohit Sharma-led side took a lot of pressure after losing the third wicket and missed out on a big total.
“India lost the World Cup final because they did not play well. Australia played better and played boldly. We succumbed to the pressure after losing the third wicket. We could have scored 280-290 runs. A lot of blame is being placed on pitch, dew and conditions, but we must accept that we did not play well under pressure,” added Harbhajan.
Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India tied the three-match T20I series against the Proteas after the first game was washed out. Both sides will next lock horns on Sunday in an ODI game.
