Dada will be present at the Eden Gardens to watch the game but said he had too much administration work to play

The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has pulled out of the upcoming one-off exhibition match on September 16 that will also be the curtain raiser of the 2nd season of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). The former Indian skipper expressed his inability to play with a formal letter to the league. Ganguly has cited professional commitments and excessive work with the cricket administration as the reason to pull out of the competition.

Sourav Ganguly was slated to lead the Indian Maharajas in the one-off game as they were slated to clash against Eoin Morgan-led World XI. Meanwhile, fans were ecstatic to see their hero back on the turf of the Eden Gardens once again. However, the fans will have to wait now as the former India skipper will now not be participating in the game.

“It’s [Legends League Cricket] a wonderful idea of bringing retired cricketers back on the cricket field and engaging with fans across generations. However, due to my professional commitments and continuous work with cricket administration, I will not be able to take part in this game. I am sure the fans are eagerly looking forward to this league and there will be large crowds at the stadium. The league is bringing together the stalwarts of the game and I am sure there will be exciting cricket on display,” said Sourav Ganguly explaining his inability to participate in the game as per a statement from LLC.

The former Indian skipper further added that he will be present at the Eden Gardens to watch the match. A total of four teams will be participating in the 2nd season of the legends League Cricket. Virender Sehwag will lead Gujarat Giants, Gautam Gambhir will lead India Capitals, Harbhajan Singh will lead Manipal Tigers, and Irfan Pathan will lead Bhilwara Kings.
