Ravindra Jadeja wishes to become future CSK captain when MS Dhoni quits

Ravindra Jadeja did an excellent job for CSK in first leg of IPL 2021.

The three-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings, will resume their dominance on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. So far, they have been quite superb in the 2021 season. They are currently placed second in the points table and one more victory would make them the table-toppers.

The Super Kings have a better net run rate than any other team this season. They won 5 games and aggregated 10 points but lost two games. CSK will lock horns with Mumbai Indians on Sunday. It is to be noted that the defending champions successfully got the better of CSK in the first leg.

MS Dhoni is the second most successful captain in the Indian Premier League. He guided the yellow army to three titles. Under his tutelage, CSK qualified for the playoffs in all their participating campaigns except IPL 2020 season. Dhoni retired from international cricket in late August 15, 2020.

However, he is still leading CSK in the IPL but the question is who would lead the yellow brigade in the future? Who is the future CSK captain? These were the topics that were frequently discussed on social media. Meanwhile, CSK Fans Army Twitter handle asked a question to its fans and followers.

Ravindra Jadeja quickly deletes his tweet

CSK Fans Army tweeted: “Who would be your pick to captaining the CSK team after MS Dhoni? #WhistlePodu #CSK”. The tweet went viral and also caught the attention of CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. The experienced cricketer decided to reply cheekily.

Jadeja responded with No.8, which actually means his jersey number 8. He indirectly expressed his interest to skipper CSK after MS Dhoni’s exit. However, Jadeja decided to take down the tweet but the fans were speedy enough to take screenshots of the tweet.

Jadeja has always been MS Dhoni’s go-to man in breaking vital partnerships. Besides being a good spinner, he has showcased his batting masterclass. He struck an imperious 62 off just 29 balls against Royals Challengers Bangalore this season.

Notably, Jadeja equalled the staggering record set by Universe Bose Chris Gayle for the most number of runs scored by a batsman in an over. Jadeja thumped 36 runs in the over off Harshal Patel after 5 maximums, a double followed by a boundary.
