Ravi Shastri predicts Umran Malik to play for India in near future

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has reserved the highest respect for Umran Malik recently. The right-arm fast bowler has impressed the cricket fraternity with breathtaking pace during the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

The Jammu and Kashmir bowler represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in this season’s IPL. In fact, the SRH franchise retained the uncapped Indian bowler for INR 4 crore ahead of the mega auction.

The youngster who started the game against Rajasthan Royals bowled at a brisk pace throughout his full quota of 4 overs. Among his super-fast deliveries, he managed to clock 150 kmph. The 22-year-old Srinagar-born cricket has indeed impressed Ravi Shastri.

Ravi Shastri makes a bold prediction on Umran Malik

Umran Malik is a perfect fast bowling material who can make it to Team India’s starting XI in the future. Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer, Ravi Shastri is of the opinion that Umran Malik would play for India in near future.

Speaking on Star Sports, the former Indian head coach highlighted that the uncapped bowler, Umran Malik has got the talent and genuine pace in his repertoire, which makes him one of the talented bowlers.

“If he hits the right areas he is going to trouble a lot of batsmen. It is about handling him properly. It’s the messages that you give him, it’s the way you communicate with him that is going to be very very important,” Shastri said.

“There is no doubt in his potential. this guy is an india player. when he is ready, only time will tell, but that communication part is extremely important. He should be handled with care and kept in the mix.”

Shastri also echoed that Umran Malik should be used as a net bowler at Indian camp. “He should be kept in the mix of the Indian cricket team, the a team. The selectors will have to watch him closely and keep him in the mix as much as they can,” he added.
