“Ravi Ashwin the GOAT” – Twitter explodes as Rajasthan Royals finish among the top two by defeating CSK
What a player Ravichandran Ashwin is!!! He can bowl, he can bat, he can field, and most certainly he can win the matches for his side. On Friday night, Ravi Ashwin played a brilliant knock to take Rajasthan Royals over the line in the nail-biter against Chennai Super Kings. Moreover, the Royals have finished 2nd in the points table with this crunch win to make it to Qualifier 1.
Chennai Super Kings were up against Rajasthan Royals in the 68th match of the Indian Premier League on Friday evening. It was a dead rubber for CSK but they wanted to finish their season on a high with a win. Meanwhile, a lot was on the line for Rajasthan Royals; not only a win would seal their place in the playoffs, but it would have taken them to the top two.
Batting first after winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings posted a total of 150/6 in 20 overs with the help of Moeen Ali‘s knock. Chasing the total, the inaugural season’s champions were in trouble at a point in time.

Reduced at 76/3 in 11.2 overs, the chase got tricky for Rajasthan Royals. However, the team management once against trusted their crisis man Ravi Ashwin and sent him at number five.
The veteran off-spinner took the charge in the middle and handled the pressure brilliantly. The right-handed all-rounder played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 40 runs off 23 deliveries, including two boundaries and three maximums to take his team over the line.
Earlier, Ravi Ashwin did a brilliant job with the bowl as the off-spinner returned with figures of 28/1 in 4 overs.
After the match-winning performance, the fans couldn’t keep calm and went gaga over R Ashwin’s performance. They praised his maturity and determination to take the team over the line.
