Skipper MS Dhoni brings good luck with him. Thala returns as the captain and CSK return to the winning ways. Chennai Super Kings squared off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 46th match of the IPL 2022 on Sunday evening.
Kane Williamson invited MS Dhoni & co. to bat first after winning the toss. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway took the onus and smashed the SRH’s bowlers all around the park. The duo stitched a record-break opening partnership of 182 runs inside 18 overs. While Devon Conway remained unbeaten for 85 runs off 55 deliveries, Ruturaj Gaikwad was unlucky to miss out on his century after getting out on 99.
However, Chennai Super Kings could not press the accelerator in the last two overs and managed 202/2 in 20 overs.
Chasing such a huge total, the opening combination of Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma started brilliantly by adding 58 runs inside the powerplay. However, the back-to-back wickets of Sharma and Rahul Tripathi put a break on the Sunrrisers’ scoring rate.
From there CSK’s bowlers kept chipping with the wickets at the regular interval and the Orange Army never caught the momentum.
MS Dhoni returns as the skipper, a win for the CSK follows
There could not be a better love story than MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings. The skipper has made the Yellow Army four-time champions in the mega-event. On Sunday, he returned as the captain and struggling CSK also registered their 3rd win of the season.
Chasing the total, Sunrisers Hyderabad were never in the game. Nicholas Pooran tried to keep his side alive with a whirlwind unbeaten knock of 64 runs off 33 deliveries but it wasn’t enough. SRH succumbed to a 13-run defeat in the end. The Orange Army is now sitting 4th in the points table with five wins and four defeats after nine matches.
Meanwhile, Twitter hails king Dhoni as his leadership brought back the win to the Chennai-based franchise.
