Born on 26th December 1987, Matthew Wade is a professional cricketer from Australia. He is a wicketkeeper and a left-handed batter by trade. During his younger years, Matthew Wade represented Tasmania in both football and cricket. However, at an age of 16, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. The left-handed wicketkeeper underwent two rounds of chemotherapy to defeat the disease.

Upon his return, Wade went on to represent Australia in the 2006 U-19 World Cup that was held in Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batter made his debut for Tasmania in the 2006-07 season but he was their 2nd-choice wicketkeeper behind Tim Paine. Soon after, Matthew Wade switched to Victoria to play regularly.

After a couple of productive seasons, Wade established himself as the 2nd-choice wicketkeeper for Australia behind Brad Haddin. The left-handed southpaw made his T20I debut against South Africa in October 2013. His ODI debut came against India in February 2012. Meanwhile, his Test debut came against West Indies in April 2017.
