IPL 2024: CSK’s strongest playing XI for the upcoming season
CSK will field their strong playing XI in IPL 2024 season to aim for the sixth title.
Middle order: Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (c & wk)
Ajinkya Rahane was long been criticized for his inability to score runs at a rate of knots where his performances declined in the 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons. However, he made a stellar rebound in the IPL 2023 season by letting his bat do the talking.
The experienced campaigner scored 326 runs at a healthy strike rate of 172.49 including 2 fifties. CSK roped in New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell for INR 14 crore at the player’s auction. He is expected to play as a pure batsman for the team.
Shivam Dube had an outstanding outing for CSK in IPL 2023, scoring 418 runs at a strike rate of 158.33. Notably, he was retained by the franchise ahead of the auction. He will be looking forward to maintaining the same tempo going forward in the next season.
MS Dhoni has nothing to prove as he has already achieved as a captain and batsman in IPL. It will be quite interesting to see how MS Dhoni goes about his work, in what will probably be his last season.
