Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were the newly-inducted franchise in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. The Lucknow-based franchise made a good impression as a team by operating pretty well in certain moments of the season. Unlike other teams that had the chop-and-change strategy, LSG always stuck to their strengths and performed quite well in most of the games.

As a result, they were able to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs by finishing third on the IPL 2022 points table. KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants managed to win as many as nine games and lost five games in the league stage. They accumulated 18 points at a Net Run Rate of +0.251. While things went quite smoothly for them in the league stage, they lacked the composure and cutting edge in the Eliminator.

The newly-inducted franchise were unable to operate as a team when they locked horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator. As a result, they were knocked out of the competition. However, they will be looking forward to doing well in the upcoming season. Let’s take a look at the strong playing XI of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming season.

Openers: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk)

    KL Rahul

Lucknow Super Giants will stick to KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock as the opening pair for the upcoming season of the IPL. LSG’s template of the right and left-hand opening combination yielded positive results in the previous campaign. They wouldn’t mind sticking to the same pair this time around. KL Rahul will serve as the captain whereas Quinton de Kock will ply his role as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

KL Rahul is one of the best players in the history of the IPL and has been consistent with the bat for many years now. He has played 102 games wherein he scored 3641 runs at an exceptional batting average of 48.55 and a strike rate of 137.45. Notably, he has scored four centuries and 28 half-centuries to his name.

Quinton de Kock is also expected to dictate the terms with the bat for LSG in the next season. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman who is best known for his blistering start has scored 2764 runs including two centuries and 19 half-centuries to his name. Quinton de Kock recently scored a 43-ball century against the West Indies in the second T20I at home and is in good touch with the bat.
