IPL 2023: “Not Finished” – Twitter erupts as Shikhar Dhawan plays captain’s knock against Rajasthan Royals

The Punjab Kings' skipper remained unbeaten with 86 runs off 56 deliveries.

The form is temporary, class is permanent. Shikhar Dhawan once again proved the saying right by playing a brilliant knock against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday evening. The left-handed southpaw opened the batting for Punjab Kings and carried his bat by remaining not out after 20 overs.

Punjab Kings were up against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and invited the Kings to bat first on a flat deck. Punjab Kings made an explosive start courtesy of some early burst from Prabhsimran Singh. The 22-year-old smashed 60 runs off 34 deliveries to give Punjab Kings a flying start.

The skipper Shikhar Dhawan decided to play second fiddle to his partner as the duo added 90 runs off 58 deliveries for the first wicket. However, the veteran Indian batter changed the gears after the departure of Prabhsimran Singh. He kept one end intact and also scored some quick runs to take his team to a match-winning total.

The out-of-favour batter has been the epitome of consistency in the Indian Premier League. Shikhar Dhawan once again proved his worth by playing a wonderful unbeaten knock of 86 runs off 56 deliveries, including nine boundaries and three maximums.

He held the fort at one end as the other batters scored quick runs around him. After the departure of Prabhsimran Singh, Gabbar stitched a vital partnership of 68 runs with Jitesh Sharma. In the end, Punjab Kings posted a total of 197/4 in 20 overs as their skipper remained unbeaten.
