IPL 2023: 5 most surprising releases by franchises ahead of auction
Not many had anticipated these moves.

1. Jason Holder

In a major move, Lucknow Super Giants have released Caribbean all-rounder Jason Holder ahead of the mini-auctions. He was one of the most expensive signings last season as the LSG shelled out INR 8.75 crore to sign the all-rounder last season.
While releasing him has freed up a major amount for the KL Rahul-led side, it would be a major challenge for them to replace an all-rounder like Jason Holder in the min-auctions.
The former West Indies skipper bagged 14 wickets for LSG in the IPL 2022 and was their second-highest wicket-getter. Furthermore, the lanky all-rounder is also pretty handy with the bat. All the all-rounders available in the min-auctions are expected to fetch big bucks and hence, his release has come as a surprise.
