IPL 2022: Three people, including LSG’s CEO Raghu Iyer get injured in a road accident

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were dealt with a blow ahead of their game against Punjab Kings on Friday evening as three important members of their caravan met with a minor road accident on their way to the MCA Stadium, Pune.

A major mishap was averted after LSG’s CEO Raghu Iyer, his associate Rachita Berry, and Gautam Gambhir’s manager Gaurav Arora met with a road accident. All three people were travelling in a car following the LSG’s team bus to the stadium before involving in an unfortunate road accident.

However, all three people escaped the adversity and they have been confirmed safe. The Lucknow-based franchise released an official statement addressing the tragic incident while confirming that all the three members of the LSG contingent are safe and doing well.

“Lucknow Super Giants’ CEO Raghu Iyer, his associate Rachita Berry and Gaurav Arora, Manager for Gautam Gambhir were involved in a minor road accident en route to the venue for tonight’s game. Fortunately, all three are safe and well,” the official statement read.

Meanwhile, the Super Giants didn’t let the unfortunate incident ahead of the game hamper their on-field performances. They defeated Punjab Kings by 20 runs to register their 6th win of the season.

KL Rahul & co. batted first after losing the toss. It wasn’t a good night for them with the bat as the LSG side could only manage 153/8 in 20 overs. However, the bowlers came out determined to win the game and made life tough for Punjab’s batters.

Led by Krunal Pandya, Lucknow Super Giants restrained Punjab Kings to 133/8 in 20 overs to complete a 20-run victory. With this win, LSG have jumped to the 3rd place in the league standings with 12 points after nine matches. They will look to continue their good form to continue their march towards a top-two spot.
