Stop the league. Mumbai Indians have done the unthinkable as the Aussie pacer Daniel Sams defended nine runs in the final over to snatch the game from Gujarat Titans by five runs.

With 9 runs required in the final over, Gujarat Titans were looking at another win as Rahul Tewatia and David Miller were present in the middle. However, Daniel Sams had different ideas as the left-arm pacer gave away only three runs, including Rahul Tewatia’s run-out, to win a game for the five-time champions.

Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans squared off on Friday evening in the 51st match of the IPL 2022. Gujarat Titans’ skipper Hardik Pandya chose to bowl against his former franchise after winning the toss.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided Mumbai Indians with a blistering start, but the Blues lost their way in the middle after losing regular wickets. However, Tim David came out all guns blazing and smashed unbeaten 44 runs off 21 deliveries to give Mumbai Indians a strong finish. The former champions posted a fighting total of 177/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing the total, the opening duo of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill almost sealed the match for Gujarat Titans with a 106-run opening stand. The Titans were ahead in the game till the 18th over, when Hardik Pandya got run out. However, with Rahul Tewatia and David Miller present in the middle, Gujarat Titans should have won the game.

Daniel Sams did the unthinkable for Mumbai Indians

With only nine runs to defend in the final over, Sams gave away a single to David Miller on the first delivery. He bowled a dot to Rahul Tewatia on the 2nd to increase the pressure on the opposition. On the 3rd delivery, Rahul Tewatia got run-out while stealing a double, leaving the equation to 7 runs required off the last three deliveries.

Daniel Sams gave a single to Rashid Khan on the fourth delivery before outfoxing David Miller on the next two deliveries to seal the game for Mumbai Indians.

Fans could not believe it after such a turnaround, and they went berserk on Twitter.
