Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have acquired the services of Rajat Patidar as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia for the remainder of IPL 2022.

Sisodia has reportedly suffered an injury during the training and will miss the rest of the tournament. He was roped in as RCB’s back-up wicket-keeper. However, the Karnataka youngster didn’t play in the two games RCB have played in the competition so far.

Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar is used to these conditions having represented the RCB franchise four times. The 28-year-old all-rounder, who represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, has so far played 31 T20s and has 861 runs against his name with the help of 7 half-centuries. He joins Royal Challengers Bangalore at his reserve price of INR 20 lakh.

IPL confirmed the news in an official statement, however, it didn’t reveal the exact nature of the injury. It read:

“Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have signed Rajat Patidar as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The right-handed batter, who had previously represented the RCB franchise four times, will join RCB for the price of INR 20 Lakh.”

RCB begin IPL 2022 on a mixed note

Faf du Plessis-led side began the tournament on a losing note, going down against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 opener. Batting first, they had posted 204 runs on the board but failed to defend the score.

In their next game, RCB prevailed over Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring thriller. They kept their nerves and produced a combined effort to chase down 129 runs to seal a three-wicket victory.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the Rajasthan Royals on April 5 (Tuesday) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
