IPL 2022: Nitish Rana breaks the fridge glass with a flat six
After a tough start to the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders batter Nitish Rana slowly finds his groove back. On Friday night, the left-handed southpaw played a vital knock for his team in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders were in trouble when the Delhi-born batter entered the scene. Nitish Rana joined his skipper Shreyas Iyer in the 5th over the innings was the Knight Riders were reduced to 31/3 by the Sunrisers.
KKR kept losing wickets in the regular innings, but Nitish Rana kept the innings together with a wonderful knock. He scored vital 54 runs off 36 deliveries before getting out. During his enterprising knock, Rana smashed a flat-six towards the SRH camp. However, the shot ended up destroying the fridge glass.
Nitish Rana uses Umran Malik’s pace to cut him for a six
It was the first delivery of the 12th over; Umaran Malik bowled a short-pacy delivery, and Nitish Rana backed away and slashed the cut. The ball flew over the third man boundary and thuds into the fridge next to the SRH dugout, breaking the glass in the process.
Luckily, no one got injured or hurt as the players and support staff were sitting nearby. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers’ skipper Kane Williamson praised the shot with a smile.

Kolkata Knight Riders succumbed to the 3rd defeat of the season
Nitish Rana could not save his side from a defeat despite playing a brilliant knock. Kolkata Knight Riders posted a par total of 175/8 in 20 overs. While Rana was the top-scorer for the Knight Riders, Andre Russell muscled unbeaten 49 runs off 25 deliveries.
However, Sunrisers Hyderabad completed the chase inside 18 overs for three wickets. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram architected the Surisers’ win on the night.
Kolkata Knight Riders have slipped to the 4th position in the points table with three wins and three losses after six matches, including two consecutive defeats in the last two matches.
