IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians to set sign the commentator Dhawal Kulkarni for rest of the season
Amid the ongoing troubles, Mumbai Indians are set to sign the experienced pacer Dhawal Kulkarni for the rest of the IPL 2022 season. The five-time champions are looking to add some experiece to their struggling bowling unit.
The Mumbai pacer went unsold in the IPL mega auction and he currently is serving as the commentator for the Star Sports commentary team. However, he will now resume his next on-field assigment after joining the Blues.
The 33-year-old pacer has a ton of experience under his belt. Dhawal Kulkarni has repesented India in 12 ODIs and 2 T20 games. He has bagged 19 wickets in one-dayers, while scalping 3 wickets in the T20Is. Dhawal is an experienced campaigner in the Indian Premier League as the swing-bowler has bagged 86 wickets in 92 IPL games.
Dhawal Kulkarni has represented Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and the now defunct Gujarat Lions through his IPL career. The five-time champions signed Kulkarni for INR 75 lakh in the IPL 2020 and he stayed with the Blues until the 2021 season.
Rohit Sharma wants Dhawal Kulkarni in the Mumbai Indians’ squad
As per the reports, Rohit Sharma is looking to add Kulkarni to Mumbai Indians’ squad. He wants Kulkarni to support Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball in the powerplay.
“MI skipper Rohit Sharma was keen on adding Kulkarni to strengthen their pace attack. Being from Mumbai, he’s aware of how to bowl in Mumbai and Pune, where IPL-15 is being held. Barring Jasprit Bumrah, all the MI pacers have struggled badly this season, and that has been a large factor which had led to the team losing its first six games to endure its worst start in any IPL edition,” a source told the Times of India.
Mumbai Indians are having their worst-ever season as the five-time champions are yet to open their account. They currently languish at the bottom of the points table with six losses in six games. They have to achieve impossible to reach the playoffs from here.
