IPL 2022: Kuldeep Yadav shares his ‘Player of the Match’ award with Axar Patel in a brilliant gesture

The left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has won hearts after sharing his ‘Player of the Match’ award with Axar Patel in a heartfelt gesture. Yadav was adjudged the player of the match against Punjab Kings courtesy of a brilliant spell of spin bowling. The chinaman accounted for two key wickets for Delhi Capitals, giving away 24 runs in four overs.

His spin bowling partner Axar Patel also had a brilliant night with the ball as the left-arm orthodox spinner scalped two wickets in four overs, spending only 10 runs. However, the IPL management committee adjudged Kuldeep Yadav the player of the match ahead of Axar Patel.

“First of all, thank you so much, but I want to share my Man of the Match award with Axar Patel. He has bowled brilliantly and he has taken some crucial wickets during the middle phase overs. According to me, he (Axar) deserved the award, but I want to share the award with him,” said Kuldeep Yadav during the post-match presentation.

Talking about the match, Delhi Capitals thrashed Punjab Kings by 9 wickets to notch up their third win of the season.

Rishabh Pant invited Punjab Kings to bat first after winning the toss. His bowlers took their opportunity and dismissed the opposition for a paltry 115/10 in 20 overs. Chasing the small total, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw made a mockery of the target and completed the chase inside 10 overs.

With this massive win, Delhi Capitals now have climbed up to 6th place in the points table with three wins and three losses in six matches.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, have slipped to 8th place with three wins and four losses in seven matches. The Kings are now in a spot of bother after losing two consecutive matches.
