IPL 2022: Abhishek Sharma thumps a six straight down the ground

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is emerging as the season of youngsters as the young lads are overshadowing the senior pros with their performances constantly. In the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma stole all the limelight with a brilliant knock.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were chasing a target of 155 to register their first win of the season. Abhishek Sharma gave his side a solid start as the Punjab-lad scored a brilliant fifty at the top. During his knock, Sharma treated the fans with a superb straight-six from the backfoot.

It was the 15th over of the SRH’s innings, and the young pacer Mukesh Choudhary came to bowl for Chennai Super Kings. On the 4th delivery of the over, Mukesh bowled a decent good length delivery, but Abhishek Sharma stood tall and smacked it over the bowler’s head for a six.

Former English off-spinner Graeme Swann seemed impressed with the wonderful shot from the youngster and termed it the ‘shot of the day.’

Abhishek Sharma shines, Sunrisers Hyderabad open their account

Sunrisers Hyderabad entered the field against Chennai Super Kings on the back of two consecutive defeats. The skipper Kane Williamson won the important toss and invited the Super Kings to bat first. The bowlers of the orange army responded well and restricted the opposition to a below-par total of 154/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing the total, Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson provided their side with a solid start. The duo added 89 runs for the first wicket in 12.1 overs. However, Kane soon returned to the pavilion, but Abhishek Sharma kept smashing the bowlers all around the park.

The all-rounder scored 75 runs off 50 deliveries and ensured a win for his side before getting out. Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten to complete the chase and win the first game for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.
