IND vs SA 2022: ‘So unlucky’ – Twitter lauds Ishan Kishan’s efforts in 2nd ODI despite missing out on hundred
The Indian batter Ishan Kishan came under a lot of fire after playing a slow knock in the first ODI against South Africa as India lost the last game just by 9 runs. The young batter gave a shut-up call to the critics brilliantly by playing a wonderful knock in the 2nd ODI. The left-handed southpaw missed his first-ever ODI hundred by 7 runs but he gave India a solid platform to win the game and level the series.
India are up against South Africa in the 2nd one-day game of the three-match series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex on Sunday. South Africa batted first after winning the toss on a wicket that was a bit slow and tricky to bat on. The visitors produced a decent batting performance courtesy of twin seventies from Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram. South Africa posted a decent total of 278/7 in 50 overs for India to chase, who replaced one of their batters with an all-rounder in this game.
Chasing the total, India were in some trouble early on as they lost Shubman Gill and the skipper Shikhar Dhawan inside the first nine overs. In such a troubling situation, Ishan Kishan was joined by Shreyas Iyer in the middle.
Ishan Kishan misses out on his maiden ODI century
Kishan, who was playing in front of his home crowd, stitched a vital partnership of 161 runs alongside Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket. The left-handed batter started slowly but soon he found his rhythm and smashed the Proteas bowlers all around the park. However, while cruising towards his century, Ishan Kishan smashed Keshav Maharaj’s short delivery straight to the deep mid-wicket in search of a maximum.

Ishan Kishan got out after scoring 93 runs off 84 deliveries, including four boundaries and seven boundaries. His knock put India firmly on top as the new batters alongside Shreyas Iyer could take the game forward.
The fans were in the awe of Ishan Kishan’s knock and applauded the young batter for his attacking intent.
