India’s productive all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja announced his arrival in style by letting his ball do the talking in the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against the Australian national cricket team at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

It’s been quite a long time since the all-rounder was involved in the game. The last time when he donned the Indian outfit was back in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament but unfortunately, he picked up a knee injury, which forced him to opt out of the remainder of the tournament.

The all-rounder also had to skip the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 tournament held in Australia. Eventually, he made a national comeback in the first Test of the four-match Test series against the Aussies. On Day 1 of the Nagpur Test, Jadeja wreaked havoc on Australia’s batting unit.

Ravindra Jadeja bags his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket

When Aussies found a great deal of spirit through Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, it was Ravindra Jadeja who provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Australia’s Test specialist Marnus Labuschagne for 49 runs.

Following his dismissal, Ravindra Jadeja quickly dismissed Matt Renshaw for a golden duck, which mounted immense pressure on the Aussies. After a few overs, Jadeja stunned Steve Smith with a cracker of a delivery that saw the spinner dismantling Smith’s stumps.

Steve Smith was in utter disbelief after he miscalculated the line and paid the price immediately as the ball shattered the stumps in the first place. Smith departed for 37 runs. Later on, Jadeja trapped Todd Murphy for an LBW as the latter departed for a duck.

In the wake of the Tea season, Jadeja got his five-wicket haul by dismissing Peter Handscomb. Notably, it was Ravindra Jadeja’s eleventh five-wicket haul in the longest format of the game.
