IND vs AUS 2023: 3 players who could replace Shreyas Iyer in ODI series
Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury during the fourth Test match against Australia.
2. Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda has been around India’s white-ball squad for the last couple of years. He has grown into a vital member of India’s T20I squad, while he has been in and out of the ODI squad. However, with a place up for grabs, the selectors could now once again look towards the allrounder.
Deepak Hooda can be used as a floater in the batting line-up as he could play both roles of an aggressor and a second-fiddle to perfection. Furthermore, his handy off-spin bowling adds depth to the bowling unit and gives an added option to the skipper.
Deepak Hooda has played 10 ODIs for India and has scored 153 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of almost 81. He also has picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 4.76. The all-rounder could be a bit rusty as he hasn’t played any international game since the New Zealand series but he surely will bring a lot of value to the team.
