English spinner Josh Baker dies at the age of 20
Josh Baker has made 47 appearances for Worcestershire across formats.
The English cricket fraternity was taken aback upon hearing that Josh Baker drew his last breathe at the age of 20 on May 2, Thursday. The English spin bowler represented Worcestershire across formats and has played 47 games.
He made his first-class debut with the club in 2021. Overall, he has accounted for 71 dismissals to his credit. After the sudden demise of Josh Baker, Worcestershire County Cricket Club paid a rich tribute on their official website.
The club reserved the highest respect for Josh Baker, who quickly became a popular face within the squad. However, there hasn’t been an exact reason behind the spinner’s demise. Worcestershire hasn’t revealed how the English spinner passed away.
“Josh turned professional with the Club in 2021 and quickly became a popular figure within the squad. More than his skills as a spin bowler, it was his vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to everyone he met. His warmth, kindness, and professionalism were remarkable, making him a true credit to his family and a loved member of our team,” the club’s statement read.

Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker found dead in apartment
Josh Baker’s mysterious death caused shockwaves in the English cricket fraternity. As per various English media outlets, Josh Baker was found deceased in his apartment by a friend after Josh failed to turn up for the third day of his team’s game against Somerset.
After his phone went unanswered, a friend discovered him deceased in his apartment, leaving the tight-knit cricket community in shock. Baker claimed three wickets in Wednesday’s match against Somerset, which ended in a draw on Thursday.
He also featured in two Vitality County Championship games last month. Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also offered their condolences to Josh Baker’s family and friends on their official website.
“The ECB is desperately sad to learn of the passing of Josh Baker. This is devastating news. We extend our best wishes to Josh’s family and friends, to everyone who knew and loved him, and to everyone at Worcestershire CCC,” ECB’s statement read.
