“He can be game-changer” – Yuvraj Singh backs Shivam Dube’s selection for T20 World Cup 2024

Yuvraj Singh is bullish on Shivam Dube.

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been very much impressed with the way Shivam Dube has gone about his business so far in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Shivam Dube is the second leading run-scorer for CSK this season.

The left-handed batter has been scoring runs at a rapid pace, accumulating 311 runs in 8 games at an average of 51.83. Notably, he maintained a strike rate of 169.95, smacking three fifties. He has been extremely good at clearing the balls out of the park.

Overall, he has amassed 22 sixes, the most by an Indian cricketer in this season’s IPL. Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh, who has been named the T20 World Cup ambassador by the ICC, added that Shivam Dube can be the ‘game-changer’ for Team India.

The national selectors have been keeping a tab on the players’ performances in the IPL. It remains to be seen whether or not Shivam Dube gets a ticket to spice it up in the marquee event, slated to be played in the West Indies and the USA (June 1 to June 29).

I would like to see Shivam Dube in the mix: Yuvraj Singh

Shivam Dube who has played 1 ODI and 21 T20Is has been in and out of the Indian set-up. His last T20I appearance came against Afghanistan in late January 2024. However, Yuvraj Singh reckons that Dube has been performing so well in this season’s IPL.

“I would like to see Shivam Dube in the squad. He has been in and out of the India team, but this IPL he has been batting very well and he is someone who can be the game-changer. There are a lot of other guys who have been playing for a while now, but I would like to see Shivam Dube in the mix,” Yuvraj Singh told ICC.

Shivam Dube has been picking up valuable lessons at CSK and it is good to see him improve as a player. He scored 279 runs for India in T20Is whereas in the IPL, he scored 1417 runs in 59 games including nine half-centuries.
