Dinesh Karthik predicts England to win ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Dinesh Karthik backed Eoin Morgan despite his bad form with the bat.

Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik seems to be enjoying the new role of a commentator. He made his commentary debut during the ICC WTC Final between New Zealand and India. The veteran did ever so well as a commentator and drew attention.

Not just fans, even commentator Harsha Bhogle was impressed by Karthik’s work. There is still a couple of years left for Karthik as a wicketkeeper-batsman. However, the 36-year-old is pretty much focused on his commentary job as of now.

With T20 World Cup 2021 slated to be held this year, experts have been coming up with their predictions. The upcoming showpiece event will go all guns blazing in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 onwards.

England would be at the top of the run besides India: Dinesh Karthik

Meanwhile, the veteran Dinesh Karthik has his say as well. He reckons that England would go on to win the title. Dinesh Karthik made his prediction during a chat with cricketer-turned-commentator Isa Guha and West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy.

“If you remove my bias for India because that is where I am from and ask me to something else, I would put England at the top of the run there,” said the veteran while he was talking about the T20 World Cup fixtures.

The wicket-keeper heaped praise on the England cricket team. He stressed the fact that England have performed consistently in T20 cricket. The fact that they have been dominant in the truncated version makes them the potential contenders for the title according to Karthik.

“The brand of cricket that they have played. They have consistently shown other countries how to play this format right from ball one. They have shown it through 50 overs but more so in T20s. But also, a well-oiled team can do with a solid captain Morgan,” he added.

Dinesh Karthik further added that England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan has been out of form. However, he echoed that Morgan would rise to the occasion and score runs when it matters the most. “He [Eoin Morgan] has not got as many runs as he would like with the bat but I am sure when it matters, I am sure he will stand up for them,” he added.
