Big blow for Chennai Super Kings as Moeen Ali sustains an ankle injury
Chennai Super Kings have been dealt yet another injury blow after their all-rounder Moeen Ali sustained an ankle injury. For the unversed, Moeen Ali is the third CSK player to sustain an injury in this season. In fact, the franchise has already lost two key fast bowlers to injuries this season.
CSK’s expensive player Deepak Chahar sustained an injury during the third and final T20I against West Indies. He made it to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to undergo rehabilitation but suffered another injury during the nets. On the other hand, New Zealand’s Adam Milne picked up an injury in the first game against KKR.
He walked off the field during the game and didn’t return to play since then. He has been ruled out of the entire season. Meanwhile, Moeen Ali was one of the four cricketers retained by the defending champions.
Moeen Ali to miss few games due to injury
The four-time IPL champions retained the England all-rounder for Rs 8 crore ahead of the auction. However, the all-rounder hasn’t really lived up to his expectations in the ongoing season. He has featured in 5 games for CSK so far where he scored 87 runs at an average of 17.40. Ali has gone wicketless in 8 overs and leaked 68 runs.
Meanwhile, as per a recent report in ESPNcricinfo, all-rounder Moeen Ali hurt his ankle during the neets session on Saturday. CSK franchise is awaiting scan results and they would hope that the injury is not so serious.
The report also added that the England all-rounder might as well give few games a miss for CSK in the ongoing season. CSK recently suffered a 11-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings. They are currently ninth on the points table.
