With all the international matches packed up, all the teams are all set to kick-off their World Cup 2023 campaign. The tournament will get underway with defending champions England taking on New Zealand in the first match on 5th October.

The showpiece event will be a massive opportunity for all the players to showcase their skills and etch their name in the history. While many players already have World Cup experience under their belt, the 2023 event will be first for many others.

Shubman Gill is one of the players to look out for at the marquee event. The talented batter has been climbing up the ladders ever since he made his international debut for Team India.

He has performed so well that the selectors preferred him over veteran Shikhar Dhawan for the opening role. As the things stand, he is all set to pair up with skipper Rohit Sharma to open the innings.

Gill has represented India in 35 ODIs so far, amassing 1917 runs at an average of 66.1 and a strike-rate of 102.8. He has already smashed six hundreds and nine half-centuries in his short One-Day career so far.
