Asia Cup 2023: 3 changes India can make in the playing XI against Bangladesh

Team India became the first team to qualify for the finals of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 after they beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs on Tuesday. They will next play on Friday against Bangladesh, who is already out of the race for the finals with two defeats. Although the match will serve as a dead rubber, both sides will try hard keeping their rivalry in the past.

Rohit Sharma-led India might look to give rest to certain players and test a few others warming the bench. They had made two changes in the playing XI against Lankans. With the World Cup approaching, they would want to ensure a balanced playing XI to avoid any drama towards the end.

Here, we list down three changes that India can make in their playing XI against Bangladesh:

1) Shreyas Iyer in for Ishan Kishan

Shreyas Iyer was initially a part of the playing XI in the continental cup but due to an injury, he was forced to sit out. However, he has recovered from the setback and was spotted practising with the team. He is likely to walk into the side owing to excellent performances at No.4 in the past.

Ishan Kishan, who batted in the middle-order against Sri Lanka, is most likely to make way for Iyer. The left-handed batter couldn’t do much in that match as he dismissed on 33. Apart from that, he also dropped a catch at the crucial stage, which fortunately didn’t go against the Men in Blue.

On the other hand, KL Rahul scored a brilliant century against Pakistan and showed what he can do on his day. He was also given the keeping duties, indicating that the management has backed him as the prime wicketkeeper. So it is evident that Kishan will be sent to bench and serve as the backup wicketkeeper batter.
