Asia Cup 2023: 3 changes India can make in the playing XI against Bangladesh
Bangladesh will aim to finish the tournament on a strong note.
2) Shardul Thakur in, Axar Patel out
Shardul Thakur was kept out of the playing side in the match against Sri Lanka. When asked about the same during the toss, Rohit Sharma said that the change was a tactical one. He indicated that the pitch was drier and suitable for slow bowlers, hence, Axar Patel was selected in the team.
With the bat, Axar did well and added some crucial runs at the end despite batting with the tailenders. His knock of 26 runs helped team India post a fighting total of 213. However, he wasn’t much effective with the ball. He went wicketless in his five overs of spell, giving away 29 runs.
If the Colombo pitch on Friday suits fast bowling, one can expect to see Shardul replacing Axar. The right-handed fast bowler has been in a fine form with the ball and the management would want to provide him as many matches as possible. He is likely to get a prominent role in the World Cup.
