Don’t see England winning any of the Test games, says Gautam Gambhir

2021 is going to be the busiest year for cricketers all across the world. The fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming assignment between India and England. The two powerful teams will play four-match Test series, five T20Is and three ODIs. Indian players recently arrived in Chennai after retaining the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

On the other end of the spectrum, England also arrived in Chennai after inflicting a 2-0 clean sweep on Sri Lanka in Galle. Both teams are in the incredible form now and the upcoming series raises a lot of expectations. Team India never usually rest on their laurels. They might have scripted history to secure second consecutive Test series win against Australia in Australia but their ultimate challenge is to beat England by comfortable margins.

India should win the Test series by 4-0, 3-0, 3-1, 2-0. If Virat Kohli & Co manage to clinch the series by any of the aforementioned margins, then they are destined to fly to Lord’s to play the World Test Championship final at Lord’s. India requires as many as 80 points from the upcoming four-match Test series. However, England will never take this challenge lightly as they will look to pose a threat to the Indians.

It has to be 3-0 India or probably 3-1: Gautam Gambhir

While everyone thinks England as India’s toughest challenge at home, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir thinks otherwise. According to the cricketer-turned-politician, England have no chance of winning a single Test against India. The former cricketer has already written off Joe Root-led team’s chances of winning a Test.

Gambhir has opened that he doesn’t see England getting the better of any of the four Tests considering India’s spin attack. The much-awaited Test series is slated to be held on February 5 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While speaking on Star Sports show Game Plan, Gambhir added that England does not have the spinners in their department who can make use of the conditions in India.

The former Indian cricketer reckons India will win the Test series by 3-0 or 3-1. “It has to be 3-0 India or probably 3-1. I’m only going to give a Pink Ball Test match, probably 50-50 to England just from the conditions point of view. I don’t see England winning any of the Test matches with the kind of spin attack they’ve got,” Gautam Gambhir added.
