BAN vs IND 2022: 5 players to watch out for in the first Test
The three-match ODI series between India and Bangladesh came to a close recently. The series didn’t end the way India would have liked because both teams had their fair share of chances in the first two games, which turned out to be close-fought battles in Dhaka. However, Bangladesh were far superior in crucial junctures as they went on to win their first two games and the series.
Bangladesh won the ODI series opener by 1 wicket and pulled off a thrilling win. After that, they approached the second game with a similar template and went on to win the game by a close margin of 5 runs. On the other hand, India won the third and final ODI and successfully evaded a whitewash. The action now shifts to the Test series between Bangladesh and Team India.
The first of the two-match Test series is slated to begin on December 14 (Wednesday) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. It will be quite interesting to see which team will use their resources properly in order to take the first lead in the series. Now, in this article, we will take a glimpse at the five players to watch out for in the first Test between India and Bangladesh.
1. Virat Kohli
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has been in scintillating form ever since the Asia Cup 2022 tournament. The 34-year-old ended up as the leading run-scorer for India in the Asia Cup 2022 and ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Kohli finished the marquee event with 296 runs, including four half-centuries, and also carried out his good form in ODIs as well.
India’s run-scoring machine scored his 44th ODI century during the dead rubber against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The in-form Kohli will be looking forward to cashing in on the chances to better effect in the first Test against Bangladesh. He has aggregated 8074 runs in Tests at an average of 49.53 including 7 double centuries, 27 centuries and 28 fifties so far.
Team India will completely rely on the services of the Indian stalwart in the first Test. Since Rohit Sharma has already been ruled out of the first Test due to a thumb injury, Kohli will be looking to shoulder the responsibility.
