WATCH: Jason Roy gets clean bowled off cousin Shane Snater’s bowling in first ODI against Netherlands
In the first ODI between the Netherlands and England, the English opener Jason Roy was castled by his cousin Shane Snater in an all-family affair. The world champions had a worst-possible start to the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands as their dashing opener Roy got dismissed in the 2nd over of the game.
On Friday, the hosts Netherlands locked horns with England in the first ODI of the three-game series at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen. The hosts won the toss and invited Eoin Morgan and co. to bat first.
Jason Roy walked out to bat alongside Philip Salt to open the batting but the destructive opener soon had to take a long walk back to the pavilion.

The Netherlands pacer Shane Snater came to bowl the 2nd over of the English innings. On the 3rd delivery, he dished out a full-length ball and Roy came forward to play an expensive drive. However, the ball nipped back in a little bit of the surface and took the inside edge of Roy’s bat to disturb the wickets behind him.
Interestingly, Jason Roy and Shane Snater are cousins as both of their mothers are sisters, born in Zimbabwe. While it was expected that Roy would dominate the family reunion, his Dutch cousin Snater won the battle by dismissing Jason for only one run. Jason Roy was visibly disappointed after getting out early, he smiled for a second before heading towards the dugout.

However, nothing worked for the hosts after that as Philip Salt, Dawid Malan, and Jos Buttler smashed respective centuries to take England to a world-record total of 498/4 in 50 overs.
Jos Buttler, in particular, was very destructive as the right-handed batter smashed unbeaten 162 runs off 70 deliveries. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone also smoked the fastest-ODI fifty record for England after reaching the milestone off 17 deliveries.
In the end, the Netherlands could only score 266/10 to lose the game by 232 runs.
