5 players Mumbai Indians can release ahead of IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians will be eyeing a comeback after a poor outing last season.
3. Mayank Markande
Mumbai Indians had the weakest spin-bowling attack in the league last season. They signed leg-spinner Mayank Markande for INR 65 lakh at the auction. However, he failed to impress when he got a chance in the playing XI.
Markande played only two matches for the Blues last season. He could pick up only one wicket in those two games, and had an economy rate of 8.14. The 24-year-old spent the rest of the season on the bench.
With Murugan Ashwin and Hrithik Shokeen ahead of him in the pecking order, there will be limited chances for him in the 2023 season as well. It would be a wise move for Mumbai Indians to release him ahead of the auction in search of other options.
