5 backup spin options for India ahead of T20 World Cup 2021
1. Ravichandran Ashwin
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the important parts of Indian cricket history. The 34-year-old is currently playing Test cricket. He created a unique record with 32 wickets and also scored his fifth Test century. Ashwin also registered his 30th five-wicket haul.
He has been away from the T20Is for four years. His last T20I appearance came against West Indies in 2017. But still, his bowling figures are really impressive. The right-arm off-spinner took 52 wickets in 46 T20Is at an economy rate of 6.97 including 2 four-wicket hauls.
Having played 154 games in IPL, he took 138 wickets including 1 four-wicket haul. Ashwin has impeccable knowledge about the game and having him in the side as a backup option would surely give the Indian captain extra comfort.
