3 players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might trade ahead of IPL 2023

CSK will eye a comeback in IPL 2023.

The four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a torrid run in the league last season. It was their worst-ever season in history, as the Yellow Army finished 9th in the points table with only four wins and ten losses.

CSK appointed Ravindra Jadeja as their new skipper ahead of IPL 2022 as MS Dhoni tried for a smooth transition of the leadership. However, things didn’t work out as per plan for the Super Kings as they were rocked with poor form coupled with injuries to their key players.

The Chennai-based outfit will now be eager to bounce back to the level they are known for in the upcoming edition of the IPL. They will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and assemble a group that could mount a title challenge.

To do that, they will have to clear some deadwood from their squad. While the Yellow Army will surely be releasing some players ahead of IPL 2023, they might look to trade some of their players as well. Hence, in this post, we will take a look at 3 players CSK might trade in the trading window.

First picked in 2018, Kerala pacer KM Asif has been with the Chennai Super Kings for four years now. However, the 29-year-old has played only three matches in those four years for the franchise.

Furthermore, the absence of Deepak Chahar in IPL 2022 was the perfect opportunity for the Super Kings to test the talent of KM Asif. However, the right-arm pacer kept warming the bench throughout the season as the franchise preferred Mukesh Choudhary, Tushar Deshpande, and Simranjeet Singh over him.

Deepak Chahar will return to CSK from injury in IPL 2023 and hence, the chances of KM Asif getting a game are further diminished. Chennai Super Kings might look to trade the pacer for a spinner as the franchise will play their home matches at Chepauk in IPL 2023.
