WATCH: Nurul Hasan’s funny stump-mic remarks during 5th T20I against Australia

Bangladesh won the series by 4-1.

Bangladesh national cricket team showed collective resilience against Australia in the five-match T20I series. After getting defeated by West Indies in the five-match T20I series by 4-1, the Men in Yellow lost another T20I series.

This time around, they lost to Bangladesh. It is also their first-ever series defeat against Bangladesh. While Bangladesh managed to win three games in a row to seal the fate of the series, Australia were playing to restore confidence in them.

However, the Aussies sprung in a surprise to win the fourth T20I. Bangladesh who already won the series didn’t take the fifth T20I lightly as they went on to humiliate Aussies at the best scene.

Australia registered their lowest-ever total in the history of T20Is. Batting first, Bangladesh posted just 122/8 in 20 overs at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Opener Mohammad Naim top-scored with 23. Nathan Ellis and Daniel Christian took 2 wickets each.

In reply, Australia were all out for just 62 inside 14 overs. Shakib-Al-Hasan made inroads into Australia’s batting line-up as he went on to take as many as 4 wickets. Mohammad Saifuddin took 3 wickets to his name.

During the first ball of the 14th over, Shakib dismissed Nathan Ellis and after which Adam Zampa came out as the last man. Bangladesh requited just one wicket to win the game while Australia required 65 runs to win at an asking rate of over 9.

It was literally way beyond Australia’s reach. Meanwhile, Sohan had urged Shakib to finish the game early as he wanted to head back home after a long time. The wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan spoke in Bengali that translates, “Please finish the match early. Will go home after a long time.”

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah was a happy man after the team’s complete performance against Australia. “Before the series, I had a chat with the bowlers. They needed to be more proactive and will have to take responsibility. The way the boys thought in every game, that was very pleasing.

We can’t let anything pass our way in our conditions because I think we are a very good side at home. Our team has very good potential in T20s despite the rankings not showing it,” Mahmudullah added.
