Watch: Moeen Ali bowls a ripper to dismiss Virat Kohli for a duck

Winning the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli elected to bat first and was looking to put a mammoth total on the board. However, Kohli’s army didn’t get the ideal start as on the third ball of the second over, the hosts got a blow in the form of in-form batsman Shubman Gill who misjudged the ball and was given LBW.

Veteran batsmen Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara then took on the responsibility to stabilize the innings and avoid any further damage. But later Pujara gave his precious wicket to Jack Leach and the next batsman Virat Kohli failed to even open his account. Not to forget, it took an absolute ripper to get rid of him.

Just when India were looking into a worrying situation, Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane did a much-needed partnership for their team and took on the driving seat. Rohit added another century to his name while the vice-captain scored a fifty to boost self-confidence. Unfortunately, they couldn’t covert it further and gave away their wickets in a short span of time.

Men in Blue ended their day at 300 for 6 with Rishabh Pant and debutant Axar Patel out in the middle. On day 2, they must be looking to extend their total as much as possible to put England under pressure when they come out to bat for the first time.

Virat Kohli couldn’t believe

But what actually caught the headlines was when Indian batsman Virat Kohli left stunned by spinner Moeen Ali’s magical delivery. For the time in history, Kohli was dismissed for a duck by a spinner in Test cricket. Nobody would have expected this for sure. After getting bowled, Kohli was shell-shocked and his expression says it at all.
