WATCH: A fan jumps the fence to meet Virat Kohli, policemen take him away
Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the most popular cricketer on the planet and his fans are always ready to go the extra mile to just get a glimpse of their favourite superstar. In one such incident on Wednesday night, a fan jumped the fence in the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants to meet Kohli while the latter was fielding on the boundary. The security personnel intervened swiftly to take the fan away as the game was halted for a few moments.
LSG and RCB crossed swords at the iconic Eden Gardens in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2022. A lot was on the line in the knockout game as the winner would have earned the bragging rights to compete in the 2nd Qualifier against Rajasthan Royals.
Batting first after losing the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a mammoth total of 207/4 in 20 overs. Rajat Patidar was the hero with the bat for the Reds as the youngster returned unbeaten for 112 runs off 54 deliveries. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik produced another finishing knock of an unbeaten 37 runs off 23 deliveries.
Chasing the total, Lucknow Super Giants were in the hunt until the end, courtesy of a beautiful knock from KL Rahul. However, their challenge looked all but over when Josh Hazlewood dismissed the opposition’s skipper in the 19th over of the chase.

In the final over of the Eliminator, a fan jumped the fence and invaded the pitch to meet Virat Kohli. The security was quick to spot him as they caught the intruder and took him away quickly.

In the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the game by 14 runs. They will now face Rajasthan Royals in the 2nd Qualifier on Friday. The winner of the 2nd Qualifier will book their clash with Gujarat Titans in the final of the IPL 2022.
