Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has picked up his top five India pacers for the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia. India had a difficult campaign in the previous T20I World Cup held in the UAE. As a result, the Indian side failed to make it to the semifinals and was eliminated from the league stage.

However, they are already preparing for the upcoming mega-event to be held in Australia. India arguably have the strongest fast bowling contingent in the world at the moment, and Australian conditions will assist the pacers.

Wasim Jaffer has picked up his six best pacers to board the flight for Australia. While there are some usual candidates in five names, Jaffer has also gone with an out-of-the-box option. Interestingly, pace all-rounder, Shardul Thakur has failed to find his name among Jaffer’s top choices.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami lead Wasim Jaffer’s pace attack

As per the reports of CricTracker, Jaffer has picked Jasprit Bumrah as the leader of the Indian bowling attack. Bumrah is a devastating new-ball bowler, while he is the best death bowler in the world at the moment. He currently is leading Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack in the IPL 2022.

The 2nd name on Wasim Jaffer’s list is Harshal Patel. The RCB pacer has emerged as the death specialist and is expected to take some load off Bumrah’s shoulders towards the end.

Deepak Chahar is the next name on the list, but Wasim Jaffer has mentioned his injury status and kept his inclusion subjected to fitness. Jaffer has selected T Natarajan as the fourth pacer for the T20I World Cup in a surprise pick. The left-arm pacer is also a T20 and death specialist. Moreover, his left-arm angle provides a different dimension to the Indian bowling unit.

T Natarajan was also a star performer for India during the Australian tour in 2020-21. Wasim Jaffer has completed the Indian pace attack by including the best new-ball bowler Mohammad Shami. The Bengal-pacer is currently representing Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 and looking in a decent form.
