Twitter reacts as Gujarat Titans clinch yet another close encounter against SRH
Damn! another night, another game, and another nail-biting finish. There is something special about Gujarat Titans and their matches in the IPL 2022. They are constantly producing blockbusters and consistently rising from the dead to win matches out of nowhere.
Gujarat Titans have shocked Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 40th match of the IPL 2022 after Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia smashed 25 runs off the final over to pull off a heist.
Earlier, Hardik Pandya invited Kane Williamson to have a go with the bat after winning the toss. The Orange Army made the most of the batting conditions on offer and posted a daunting total of 195/6 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma scored another half-century, scoring 65 runs off 42 deliveries. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram also played a vital hand, scoring 56 runs off 40 deliveries.
Chasing the total, Gujarat Titans were off to a solid start courtesy of a breezy knock from Wriddhiman Saha. The wicketkeeper-batter stitched a 69-run partnership with Shubman Gill before the latter was dismissed.
Umran Malik, with his fiery spell of pace bowling, brought back Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game and almost bowled out Gujarat Titans out of the game with his maiden five-for. The match tilted heavily towards Sunrisers Hyderabad as Gujarat Titans required 47 runs in the last three overs.
Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia win it for Gujarat Titans
The duo of Khan and Tewatia added 25 runs in the next two overs to bring the equation to 22 runs in the final over. South African pacer Marco Jansen came to bowl the last over and Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia smashed the left-handed pacer for four maximums to clinch the game for their side.
Gujarat Titans have now climbed up to the top of the league standings with seven wins and a single loss after eight matches. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their five-game winning streak to register their 3rd loss of the season.
