The King is back. Finally, the moment for which millions of fans were waiting arrived in the game between RCB and Gujarat Titans. On Thursday night, Virat Kohli returned to his vintage self as the former skipper played a beautiful knock to take his side closer to victory in a crunch game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore locked horns with Gujarat Titans in the must-win game in their quest to qualify for the playoffs. Hardik Pandya asked Faf du Plessis and co. to bowl first after winning the toss.

Riding on Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten fifty and brilliant cameos from Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller, Gujarat Titans posted a decent total of 168/5 in 20 overs. Chasing the total, RCB needed a solid start from their openers to stay alive in the competition and the chase master didn’t disappoint.

There always have been a special relationship between the chase master Kohli and the run chases. The King looked determined from the very first ball as there was fire and aggression in his body language.

Virat Kohli had some luck early in his innings as the ball missed the stumps after an inside edge. Later, Rashid Khan dropped him on the boundary to give Kohli a lifeline.

From there, Virat Kohli didn’t look back as the King scored 73 runs off 54 deliveries to take his side closer to the victory. He smashed eight boundaries and two maximums during his brilliant knock.

Once Kohli was gone, Glenn Maxwell took the centre stage to smash unbeaten 40 runs off 18 deliveries to take RCB home. With this 8-wicket victory, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have climbed to the 4th place in the points table and they will now have to wait for Delhi Capitals’ game to know their fate this season.

Twitter exploded after the vintage knock from Virat Kohli as the fans celebrated their favourite superstar’s runs.
