Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith has bashed the Indian all-rounder Rahul Tewatia over the cryptic tweet after his non-inclusion in the Indian squad for the Ireland tour. The legendary Proteas skipper has advised Tewatia to focus on his game instead of Twitter.

Rahul Tewatia failed to find a place in the Indian squad for the Ireland T20I series despite having a commendable display in the IPL 2022. Heartbroken with the snub, the all-rounder took Twitter to express his disappointment with a cryptic tweet.

Now, while talking about the Indian squad for the Ireland T20I series, Graeme Smith has opined that Tewatia should ignore all the outside factors and work on his game. He also advised Tewatia to perform so well that the national selectors are forced to consider him before announcing the next Indian squad.

“India have so many talented players. The selectors, Rahul and Rohit, now have an idea of what the majority of the squad is going to look like and who are the players are vying for the other squad positions. So it’s very difficult to sit here and say. We know he has done so well but there is so much competition out there,” said Graeme Smith on Star Sports.

“I would tell him ‘stay off Twitter, focus on your game, perform. Make sure the next time the squad comes out, no one can leave you out because you have just dashed that door down’,” Graeme Smith further added.

In case you don’t know, Rahul Tewatia played the role of a finisher for Gujarat Titans with perfection during the 15th edition of the IPL. He played a number of vital knocks for the champions lower-down-the-order to take his team home.
