Shane Watson retires from all forms of cricket
Experienced campaigner and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shane Watson has announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket. As per the reports, Shane Watson bid adieu to all forms of cricket. Watson announced his decision to his Chennai Super Kings teammates at the end of the CSK’s campaign in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier at the United Arab Emirates. Chennai Super Kings beat Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets on Sunday’s encounter in Abu Dhabi.
After the match, Shane Watson decided that it is best for him to retire at this time. As per a report in Times of India, Shane Watson has told his Chennai Super Kings teammates that he would be retiring from all forms of the game. It should be noted that Shane Watson has already retired from international cricket when three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings signed him in 2018 at the mega IPL auction.
Shane Watson has been a great asset to the IPL
Shane Watson played a major role in helping his team win the third trophy in that season where he single-handedly took the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack to the cleaners. Shane Watson scored a terrific century in that IPL final and rightly so, he was named the man of the match. Apart from helping Chennai Super Kings win the title in the 2018 season, Shane Watson played a key role in helping Rajasthan Royals win the inaugural edition of the IPL against Chennai Super Kings. Shane Watson also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in his lucrative Indian Premier League career.
“Watson was very emotional when he told the CSK dressing room after the last game that he would retire. He said that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise,” a source told TOI.
The report also goes on to add saying that Shane Watson might also be added to the Chennai Super Kings support staff as the team is looking forward to rebuilding and redevelop for the 2021 season.
“He has always done very well against us, and Dhoni knows how important a player he could be if he is used properly at the top of the order,” a CSK official added in a statement.
