“Royal Challengers Bombay” – Twitter erupts as Mumbai Indians help RCB to advance to the playoffs after defeating Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets
Wait, what? What has just happened? Delhi Capitals imploded at the wrong time to crash out of the competition. We officially have our four teams in the IPL 2022 playoffs as Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. Their win has enabled Royal Challengers Bangalore to keep their place intact in the points table and qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals’ campaign came to an end with the embarrassing defeat.
On Saturday, a place in the playoffs was on the line as Mumbai Indians go toe-to-toe against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium. The equation was simple for Delhi Capitals – win the game and qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, a win for Mumbai Indians will see Royal Challengers Bangalore advance in the competition.
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma invited the opposition to bat first. The five-time champions were on fire with the new ball as they reduced Delhi Capitals to 50/4 inside 9 overs. However, a solid partnership between Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell brought Delhi Capitals back into the game. Axar Patal provided the finishing impetus with an explosive cameo, in the end, to take DC to 159/7 in 20 overs.
Tim David wins it for Mumbai Indians and RCB
Chasing the total, Mumbai Indians lost the skipper Rohit Sharma early after making a slow start. The ‘Baby AB’ Dewald Brevis and Ishan Kishan kept the five-time champions going but the duo soon got out as Delhi Capitals got an upper hand in the game.
However, it was a whirlwind cameo from the big-hitting Aussie Tim David, who blasted 34 runs off 11 deliveries, including four maximums to bring the Blues back in the chase. In the end, the all-rounder Ramandeep Singh kept his cool with a small but vital knock of an unbeaten 13 runs off 6 deliveries to take Mumbai Indians home.
With this win, Mumbai Indians off from the IPL on a high after an underwhelming season. They also have ensured that RCB are still alive in the tournament and are through to the playoffs.
Soon after, Twitter exploded as the fans could not keep calm witnessing RCB advancing to the playoffs.

Still remember when DC was at 8th position and defeated Mumbai to knock them out of the play offs.. Today Mumbai Indians did the same to Delhi Capitals. Scintillating performance by David, Kishan and Bumrah. #MIvsDC #IPL2022 #TATAIPL2022
