Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the eight existing teams that haven’t won the trophy since IPL 2008 season. They made it to the finals on three occasions but failed to pull off the ropes. Even in the last season, they had a chance to win the title. They even progressed to the playoffs but lost to KKR in the qualifier.

Virat Kohli stepped down as captain after the end of the IPL 2021 season. RCB had a great auction this time around as they signed the right players to strengthen their base. Faf du Plessis, the former CSK player will lead RCB for the next season.

RCB will start their journey on March 28 as they will lock horns with Punjab Kings at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. RCB retained the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

A big blow to RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore suffer a big blow ahead of the IPL 2022 season as two Australian players – Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood are set to give the first few games a miss. As per a report from ESPNCricinfo, Glenn Maxwell will not be playing the first two games due to his wedding with Indian-origin girlfriend Vini Raman.

On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood is set to miss the first three games for RCB in the upcoming season. The pacer’s unavailability is subject to his selection for the limited-overs series against Pakistan. RCB will have to come up with a strong XI in the first few games before both players return to cricketing action.
