RCB vs KKR Head-to-Head record in the history of IPL

KKR has the upper hand in the much-anticipated contest.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the top-tier teams in the cash-rich IPL. Even though they boasted high-profile players with all their bases covered, they still haven’t figured out a way to crack the code to win the IPL title. They have made it to the finals on three occasions – IPL 2009, 2011 and 2016 seasons in their journey.

Unfortunately, they lacked the cutting edge and the spark to get the job done in clutch moments. As a result, they failed to cross the victory line in the three finals that they reached so far. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders are one of the top teams in the history of the competition. They ran through a series of ups and downs in the last few seasons.

Notably, they are the third-most successful team in terms of the most titles won in the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders have won two titles in their journey. They won their first IPL title in the 2012 edition when they beat Chennai Super Kings in the final. In the IPL 2014 edition, they defeated Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) to win their second IPL title.

KKR won both titles under the tutelage of Gauta Gambhir. However, after Gambhir left the franchise, KKR struggled quite a bit. However, they made it to the finals of the IPL 2021 edition but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the final. KKR and RCB have produced spectacular battles in the history of the competition.

Whenever these two teams cross swords with each other, there has always been one heck of a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The heated rivalry sparked between these two teams right from the first match of the first edition of the IPL.

KKR humiliated RCB by inflicting a shocking 140-run defeat on them. Batting first, KKR posted 222/3 with the help of Brendon McCullum’s 158. In response, RCB were bowled out for 82 runs. In IPL 2017 edition, RCB registered their lowest-ever total in IPL history as they were bowled out for 49 in response to KKR’s 131. KKR are leading in terms of the head-to-head stat over RCB in the IPL.
