India and Australia locked horns in a warm-up game in the ongoing T20 World Cup on October 17 (Monday). Be it an official match or a warm-up, a thriller is always confirmed in the battle between two giants of cricket world. This time as well it was no different as the fans witnessed a last over drama.

Batting first, the Men in Blue started strongly, thanks to KL Rahul’s attacking approach. He smashed 57 off just 33 balls before giving away his wicket to Glenn Maxwell. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli couldn’t make an impact with the bat but in-form Suryakumar Yadav once again fulfilled the gap by scoring a fifty.

A quick cameo from Dinesh Karthik ensured India reach a good total of 186 at the end of first innings. In reply, the home side also flexed their batting abilities. Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch were smashing the Indian bowlers all-round the park before Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismantled former’s stumps.

The Australian captain went on to score 76 off just 54 deliveries with the help of seven fours and three sixes. However, the upcoming batters didn’t do much to sail the ship. Just when Maxwell was looking dangerous, Bhuvneshwar once again delivered by sending his back to the pavilion.

The game came to a point when the Aussies needed 11 runs off the last over, which was quiet under the range. But Mohammed Shami, who was bowling the decisive over, had other plans. After conceding four runs in his first two balls, Shami went on to pick three wickets in the next four balls.

The next four balls read: wicket, run-out, wicket, wicket. Not to forget Virat Kohli’s one-handed blinder at the boundary line to dismiss Pat Cummins. As a result, Rohit Sharma’s side won their first warm-up match by 6 runs.

No one's like being left out of a squad, especially a T20WC squad. Shami been given a lifeline could be the ingredient India needs to add venom to there pace attack in this campaign. #T20WorldCup2022

Shami 🔥🔥🔥

— Deep Dasgupta (@DeepDasgupta7) October 17, 2022

If Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma aren't discussing of having Shami for the 1st match against Pak, they have got their mind 'junked'.

Experience matters, his skillsets are made for these types of surface.
Maybe Bumrah's injury is blessing in disguise.#Shami #ViratKohli @ImRo45
