NZ vs IND 2022: 3 deserving players to miss out on India’s squad for New Zealand ODIs
These were the unexpected missing names from the squad.
2. Mohammed Shami
Despite featuring regularly in Test cricket, Mohammed Shami hasn’t been part of India’s scheme of things for white-ball cricket. In fact, the veteran pacer was picked for India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 after Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the tournament with an injury.
Mohammed Shami hasn’t featured much in white-ball cricket since his participation in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup. However, now that he has returned to the Indian white-ball setup, fans were hoping to see him in the New Zealand ODIs as well.
However, the 32-year-old has failed to find a place in the Indian squad for the upcoming one-day series in New Zealand. While the reason behind his exclusion is unclear, it could be part of the BCCI’s workload management.
