New Cricket stadium in Surat taking shape as concept design goes viral on Twitter

The stadium is expected to be used for multiple sports.

Cricket is the most-watched sport in India. From relishing the true taste of the conventional Test and ODI format to enjoying the raw flavors of T20 cricket, the game has seen it all.

The cricket fraternity has seen major improvisations in the game with regards to the quality and entertainment that the players bring to the table. At the same time, we have seen players approaching the game a bit more sensibly as they are targeting short boundaries and using it to their advantage.

As a result, the teams are getting largely benefitted from these factors. Meanwhile, in what comes as a major development, the Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA) is running after plans to increase Lalabhai Contractor Stadium’s seating capacity from an existing 7000 seats to 30,000.

New cricket stadium in Surat taking shape

For the unversed, Lalbhai Contractor Stadium is a cricket stadium situated in Surat and is owned by SDCA. The stadium is small in size and the association is planning to expand it so much that it becomes the perfect arena for hosting national, as well as, international level cricket games and tournaments.

According to a reliable source, the design of the new cricket stadium in Surat is out. Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation or update regarding the name of the stadium, we can deduce that the existing small Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, which is currently in construction, could be the one taking shape in Surat.

Not many know that during the fifteenth season of the IPL, the four-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings chose this particular stadium for their preparation. The agenda for this massive project means that the stadium is being built with a truckload of amenities as it will have a modern Club House with residential accommodation, restaurants, and a banquet hall. The stadium could also have a conference hall and a mini theater, including locker facilities for the members.
