Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League in terms of winning the most titles in the competition. Although they haven’t been a force to be reckoned with in the first five seasons of the competition, they started to operate as a top-tier team ever since Rohit Sharma took charge as the full-time captain.
Mumbai Indians went on to win their first-ever IPL title in Rohit Sharma’s first season as captain in IPL 2013. Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings in the final to win their maiden IPL title. In IPL 2015 season, MI beat CSK again to claim their second IPL title. MI beat RPS to claim their third IPL title in IPL 2017. In IPL 2019 season, MI beat CSK to win their fourth title.
In the subsequent season, they got the better of Delhi Capitals in the final to win their fifth title. Moreover, they defended the title for the first time in history. On the other side of the coin, Rajasthan Royals announced themselves as the most phenomenal force in the inaugural edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League
They made it all the way to the finals of the competition and defeated Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008 final to win their maiden IPL title. However, since then, it’s been a series of ups and downs for the franchise before they finally reached the second IPL final in IPL 2022 edition but surrendered at the hands of Gujarat Titans in the final.
